После обновления до exim 4.71 в логах появилось
DKIM: Error while running this message through validation, disabling signature verification.
Две вероятные причины
1) The message has more than 512 headers.
2) The message contains a single line longer than 16k bytes.
в моем случае было 2-е, письмо из почтовой рассылки было в виде одной строки на 80к.

Если бы с драйверами\прошивкой\железом. Мы изнасиловали тех.поддержку IBM, и в конце концов они неофициально сознались, что DS3200 под VMware не годится.
Так вот, под RHEL и ее клонами (OEL, CentOS, VMware) производительность DS3200 существенно ниже, чем под Win*

Занялся настройкой CARP на FreeBSD 8.

The Common Address Redundancy Protocol manages failover at the intersection of Layers 2 and 3 in the OSI Model (link layer and IP layer).
Each CARP group has a virtual MAC (link layer) address, and one or more virtual host IP addresses (the common address).
The master sends out CARP advertisement messages via multicast (224.0.0.18) using the CARP protocol (IP Protocol 112) on a regular basis, and the backup hosts listen for. If the advertisements stop, the backup hosts will begin advertising. The frequency is configurable, and the host which advertises most frequently is the one most likely to become master in the event of a failure.

Юный правитель не знал, как управлять доставшимся ему в наследство государством. Поехал по совету мудрецов к оракулу, получить мудрость.
Приехал, зашёл в пещеру, спрашивает:
- О великий оракул, как мне стать мудрым, чтобы хорошо управлять моим государством, ибо я юн и не всегда знаю, как принимать правильные решения...
Стены пещеры затряслись, пошёл дым, и загремел голос оракула:

Небольшой тест сравнение 7 и 8 версии.
Увеличение скорости на тестах MySQL и PostgreSQL в 1.5-3x раза. Улучшение за счет оптимизации кода шедулера и UFS2, появления прозрачной поддержки superpages.

Примеры таких систем - IBM DS3400(3200), Xyratex F(E)5402E, широкая линейка Infortrend, HP MSA2000 G2, EMC Clariion AX4, даже у Hitachi есть относительно недорогая WMS100.
Что же мы получаем за свои кровные?

это часть спецификации SCSI Primary Commands -3 (SPC-3)
в новой Windows Server 2008 R2 Clustering требование совместимости с SPC-3 обязательно. И в частности, проверяется поддержка Persistent Reservation. Так что при обновлении с 2003 версии, с использованием той же системы хранения, могут быть проблемы.

поддержка Persistent Reservation в Openfiler реализована на базе LIO, но пока не стабильна обсуждение Does Openfiler 2.3 support SCSI-3 Connections

В самом ESX настраивать особо нечего, но что нужно настроить - это приложение и гостевую ОС
- обновить версию VMtools
- Включить large memory pages pg_performance
но
large pages only come into play when you have x64 or ia64 installations with at least 8 GB of RAM
- включить SQL’s priority boost
но
you should not use it except under very unusual circumstances.
Так что советы немного спорные.
